Canon Camera Connect

Canon Camera Connect is the official bridge between a Canon camera and a phone. Its main job is transfer: images shot on the camera move to your phone or tablet over Wi-Fi, either through a direct connection between the two devices or via a wireless router. That solves the familiar gap where good photographs sit on a memory card until you next sit at a computer, by which point the moment for sharing them has passed. Remote shooting is the second reason people install it. Live view from the camera appears on your phone screen, and you can trigger the shutter from there. This is what makes self-portraits, group shots that include the photographer, wildlife photography from a distance and long exposures possible without touching the camera and shaking it. On Bluetooth-enabled cameras the shutter can be released over Bluetooth alone, which uses less power for long sessions. Compatible models add further conveniences. Location data can be taken from your phone's GPS and written into the images on the camera, so photographs are tagged with where they were taken even though the camera has no GPS of its own. A Bluetooth pairing or an NFC touch can switch the connection over to Wi-Fi when the faster link is needed, and camera firmware updates can be transferred through the app.
