Visible mobile

This is the account app for Visible, a mobile network operator, and it exists so that the things that used to require a phone call or a shop visit take a few taps instead. Payments, plan upgrades and account details are all handled here, and autopay can be enrolled or payment methods swapped without speaking to anyone. Support is available around the clock through the app. Activation is where it saves the most time. A new line can be set up with an eSIM, which means no waiting for a card to arrive in the post and no fiddling with a tray and a pin: the profile downloads to the phone and the service starts. A number can be ported in from another carrier through the same flow, and service can be moved from one handset to another when you change phones. For anyone who has spent an afternoon in a phone shop for these tasks, doing them from a sofa is the entire point. Beyond account management the app carries the shop: phones and wearables can be bought, an existing device can be brought to the network, and trade-in values are offered for old handsets.
