HD Camera hands you the controls that most stock camera apps hide. Focus mode, ISO, white balance, exposure compensation and exposure lock are all reachable from the shooting screen, so you can set them for the scene in front of you instead of hoping automatic mode guesses right. Lock exposure on a face before recomposing, drop the ISO to clean up noise in good light, or warm up the white balance under indoor bulbs. HDR helps in the two situations that defeat phone cameras most often: dim rooms and backlit subjects where the sky blows out and the person turns into a silhouette. It captures a range of exposures and merges them, keeping detail at both ends. Filters preview live on screen, which matters because you see the result before the shutter rather than guessing and fixing it later. The same filters apply to video. Quick Snap fires the shutter with a single tap, continuous shooting holds it down for a burst when your subject will not sit still, and auto-stabilise reduces the blur that comes from unsteady hands. A torch toggle sits within reach for close-up work in the dark. The app is built on the open source Open Camera project and released under the GNU General Public License, so the underlying code is public and auditable.
