Heart Rate: Blood Pressure App

Place a fingertip over the camera and flash, and the app detects the colour changes caused by blood flowing through your finger, producing a heart rate reading in a few seconds without any additional equipment. This technique is well established and gives a reasonable figure at rest, though movement, cold fingers and poor contact all reduce accuracy. Blood pressure is recorded rather than measured. No phone can determine blood pressure from a camera, because it requires a cuff that compresses the artery. What the app provides is a well-organised log: you enter the readings from your own monitor, and it stores them with dates, builds graphs and shows trends over weeks and months. That history is genuinely valuable, since a single reading means very little and a pattern means a great deal. Reports can be shared with a doctor in one tap, which turns a scattered notebook into something an appointment can actually use. Health tips and dietary suggestions accompany the readings. None of this is a medical device or a substitute for clinical measurement, and any concerning result belongs with a doctor rather than an app.
