My Talking Tom by Outfit7 is a virtual pet game built around a cat who talks back. Say something near the phone and Tom repeats it in his own voice; the rest of the time he needs care and attention to stay happy. The game follows the classic pet-raising formula, so there is always something to do: feed him, tend to him and check in on his mood.

Around that core sit collections of clothes and furniture to dress Tom and furnish his home, mini games that add action and adventure, travel destinations to explore and photo albums for keeping memories. The studio behind it also makes My Talking Angela and the other Talking Tom and Friends titles.

It is made for children and families, and parents should know what the developer discloses: the game shows ads and promotions for other Outfit7 products, includes links to the studio's sites, offers in-app purchases with real money and subscriptions that renew automatically unless cancelled. Everything can also be unlocked with virtual currency earned in play. An internet connection is needed for ads and the built-in video section.
