It applies to everything: music, games, films, audiobooks and video, along with system sounds such as alarms and ringtones, which is useful if you keep sleeping through the alarm your phone considers loud. Beyond raw volume there is shaping. A bass booster adds the low end that small phone speakers cannot produce on their own, and a 3D virtualiser widens the sound so headphones feel less like two separate speakers strapped to your head. The ten-band equaliser comes with more than twenty presets, so you can pick one that suits podcasts, classical music or bass-heavy tracks without learning what each frequency band does, then adjust from there if you want to. Edge lighting reacts to the music with customisable colours around the screen. One sensible caution applies to any booster: pushing a small speaker or headphones hard for long periods risks distortion, and sustained high volume in headphones is worth avoiding for your hearing.
