There is a particular frustration in reaching the end of the volume slider and finding it is still not enough. EZ Booster raises the ceiling, taking volume up to two hundred percent of what the system normally permits. The boost applies across the board rather than to music only. Films, audiobooks, games, video and the system sounds that wake you up all get the same treatment, so a phone whose alarm you keep sleeping through becomes a phone whose alarm you do not. Setting the level takes one touch: choose the amount of boost you want and it stays there until you change it, without a separate control for every app. A stereo surround effect widens the sound stage, which is most noticeable on headphones, where it makes recordings feel less compressed between your ears. The developers state the boost is applied without degrading sound quality, though as with any amplification, pushing to the maximum on a small speaker will eventually reach the limits of the hardware. Use the extra range where it is needed and keep sustained headphone levels moderate for the sake of your hearing.
