QQ

QQ is a messaging app from Tencent, a Shenzhen-based company. It combines one-to-one and group text chats, voice calls for two people or a whole group, video chat with friends and family, and fast file transfer between a phone and a computer, so documents and photos move between devices without cables or email.

Beyond messaging, the app has a social feed where you follow what friends post, a personalization area with themes, profile cards, chat bubbles and pendants, a game center with mobile games and built-in payment features such as phone top-ups, shopping, transfers and collecting money. Everything runs under a single QQ account.

The app suits anyone whose friends, classmates or business contacts use QQ and who wants their conversations kept in sync between phone and computer. An internet connection and a QQ account are required; the interface is organized around the contact list and chat threads, with notifications arriving as soon as a message comes in.
