Google Lens

Google Lens lets you search with an image rather than with words: point the phone camera at something, or pick a photo you already have. The tool is published by Google LLC and turns a picture into a query, returning a translation, an explanation or a list of similar items.

Typical uses include reading and translating signs, copying text or tangled codes from paper into the phone, saving a business card to contacts and adding an event from a poster to the calendar. You can learn the name of a plant or the breed of a dog, look up a landmark, restaurant or shop, find clothes, furniture and decor like the ones you like, and pick out the dishes that diners praise most on a menu. QR codes and barcodes can be scanned too.

It suits travellers, students and anyone who often meets unfamiliar text or objects. Availability is limited and varies by language and region, and some features work only with an internet connection.
