Textra's reputation rests on two things at once: it is genuinely fast, and it can be made to look like almost anything. Speed shows in ordinary use, opening and loading without the pause that stock messaging apps develop as a phone accumulates years of conversations. Customisation goes further than most apps attempt. More than a hundred and eighty material design themes are available, and bubble colours, app icon colours, bubble styles and screen modes including light, dark, black and night can all be set. Twenty one text sizes and multiple font options mean the app can be made genuinely readable for eyes that find the default too small, which is an accessibility benefit rather than a cosmetic one. The feature list is deep and mostly practical. Scheduled messages send at a chosen future time. Send delay gives you a few seconds to cancel a message the moment you spot the mistake, which is a small feature that has saved a great many people. Slide to delete and slide to call speed up common actions, quick reply pops up over other apps, and a quick snap camera and multi-select gallery make sending pictures faster. Group MMS, voice memos and GIFs are handled properly throughout.
