FX File Explorer is a file manager designed to make handling files and media on a phone or tablet nearly as comfortable as on a computer. It uses a Material Design interface, and its home screen gathers shortcuts to key folders, media and cloud storage.

Among its tools are a dual-window mode for working with two locations at once, a usage view that shows the size and makeup of each folder, and support for most archive formats. The developer states that the app carries no ads and does not track what users do. Extra functions sit in the optional FX+ add-on: access to networked computers over FTP, WebDAV and SMB, cloud storage, encrypted zip files and phone-to-phone transfer over Wi-Fi Direct.

It suits anyone who often moves documents, photos and music around and wants to see what fills the storage. Working with local files needs no internet; the network features require the FX+ add-on and a connection.
