About this app
Photo Translator turns your phone camera into a pocket interpreter. Just photograph a sign, menu, label or book page and the app recognizes the text and shows the translation directly on the picture, over the original lines and keeping their layout. You can also pick an existing photo from the gallery.
The source language is detected automatically, so there is no need to tell the app what is written in front of you in advance. The optical character recognition handles printed text in various fonts, and the list of supported languages exceeds a hundred: Arabic, English, French, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Russian and many more, including rare ones.
The app is useful when traveling, studying or dealing with foreign documents: translating a medicine leaflet, a product label or a museum caption takes seconds. Recognized text can be copied, read aloud or sent to a messenger. The free version contains ads and limits, which a subscription removes.
