Background Eraser

Background Eraser from handyCloset Inc. is a compact editor with one job: separating a subject from its surroundings and leaving the background transparent. Pictures prepared this way can be layered over other images, which is the basis of photomontage, collage work and homemade stickers for other programs.

There is more than one way to erase. A colour-based automatic mode removes neighbouring pixels of a similar shade, while the magic mode follows the detected edges of an object so the outline stays cleaner. When the borders are tricky, areas to keep or remove can be marked by hand. Precision matters, because a rough cutout is obvious the moment it sits on a new backdrop.
