Island

Island is a utility that builds a separate, isolated space on the device and lets you move apps into it. It relies on the Android work profile: what lives inside is kept apart from the rest of the system, which helps with privacy.

Its main abilities are isolating an app, cloning it so two copies run in parallel, freezing it to stop its background activity completely, and hiding it for whatever reason. You can also use a VPN on one side only, or a different VPN on each. To work, it asks for device administrator rights so the space can be created, plus access to usage statistics so it can tell which apps are running. Both requests are shown explicitly, and the developer states that no privacy-related data is collected.

It suits people who want a second messenger account, a way to rein in power-hungry programs, or a clean split between work and personal software. To remove Island fully, first choose Destroy Island in its settings; if it was already uninstalled, delete the work profile under Accounts.
